Door, gates and stairs can either be a barrier or an opportunity. Are they open, or closed? Are they welcoming, or menacing? Am I excited, or fearful about what lies on the other side?
It's a pretty straightforward metaphor for life. Life is full of situations that may seem like a door, or gate, or even like a long winding staircase. Can we make it through? Do we want to enter this new opportunity or danger? Do we WANT to go in, onward to what lies ahead?
Sometimes the future is welcoming, sometimes foreboding, and sometimes just a great unknown.
Will we go, or will we stay put where we stand now?
